DESCRIPTION:
Craft is a virtual learning tool for students in the fields of mechatronics and metalworking. You navigate around a virtual workshop and are able to operate a variety of machines. By utilizing the first person view, the player can relate to the function of different machines from a natural perspective. The game focuses on procedural training and safety regulations.
PROCESS:
From a game design perspective, there was a massive challenge in translating the function and operation of each machine to a set of intuïtive game-mechanics. We came up with a general framework which would be applied to each newly added machine.
I took care of the environment, 3D assets, UI and lighting. The game required to run on predefined, low-end hardware, so we had to keep expensive shading to a minimum.
